15 Prompts for your Journaling Journey

Journaling has allowed me to be more in tune with my feelings, opinions, and surroundings.

By writing how I feel, I’m putting into written words the thunders, waves, and deserts of a chaotic mind that sometimes spends too much time inside the brain and needs to be released and expressed.

As learners, change-makers, and socio-environmental advocates, it is of great importance to be mindful of ourselves to project positive energy to our surroundings and goals.

If you are beginning your journaling journey, sometimes you may need some guidance, so here I am, giving you a few prompts that will unleash emotions, words, reflection, and change:

  1. How does your perfect peaceful space look like? Are there any specific scents? Be as descriptive as possible.

  2. List 5 moments you are grateful for that made you who you are now.

  3. If you could change anything in the world, what would it be? How would you change it? Be as utopian as you can.

  4. Make ten squares and in each one, write something you would write on a poster at a protest.

  5. Describe a scene of the last movie you watched that inspired you. Then explain why this scene spoke to you.

  6. If you could be a character of a book you’ve read, which one would you be and why?

  7. Write the lyrics of a song that moves you. Write how these words make you feel and how the sounds make your body move.

  8. If you could write the biography of anyone, who’s would you write? Why?

  9. Write a descriptive paragraph of your favorite nature spot.

  10. Write a letter to someone you will never send.

  11. Narrate the story of how you decided to be more sustainable. Who or/and what inspired you?

  12. Describe your ideal lifestyle.

  13. When was the last time you were angry? Why?

  14. When was the last time you were happy? Why?

  15. Write a short story that involves your persona, an animal, the ocean, a bottle, and a pen.
