Two avanguard bio-tech companies are producing palm oil alternatives that are also circular! Palm oil can be found in over half of supermarket products…and is responsible for the plight of rainforests, it’s a $71B industry.

  1. C-16 Bioscences —lab-grown synthetic palm oil

    • developed a technology to brew a sustainable alternative to palm oil from microbes.

“We believe that brewing palm oil like beer is the best and most likely path to developing a truly sustainable palm oil alternative.”—C16

By now, C-16 has attracted major investors such as Bill Gates. Hopefully this will be a game-changer in the future of food production.

2. Revive Eco — is turning coffee ground into a palm oil alternative

  • this solution would save CO2 emissions in two ways: decreasing landfill waste (which releases CO2) and saving rainforests. This circular idea is genius.

“nearly half a million tonnes of grounds are created every year in the UK, with most of that findings its way to landfills.”
