Should future generations have legal standing in the present?
We definitely think so. Stanley Robinson’s dystopic novel dives into what life from 2025 onwards will be like, considering all of the climate catastrophe scenarios that come with maintaining the status quo. So what if after COP30 a ministry for the future whose main role is to protect the rights of future generations is established? And if so, how would they go about doing it?
What’s truly engrossing about Robinson’s world is that it is in a future not very far away and thus you can easily relate to all of his scenarios. Also, he touches on pretty much every topic related to sustainability, offering very possible and tangible solutions as well as a an aggressive offense from the current boomer profit-oriented elite that control the world.
